What are silver and gold addresses?

Two types of addresses are listed when a broadband availability check is run. The first is a gold address, and the second is a silver address.

For gold addresses, you can place an order for any of the available products that are on offer, and the process is fully automated from the point of order to delivery.

For silver addresses, this isn't the case. An order placed against a silver address is in effect a order that is manually handled by the Packnet support team. They place the order after liaising with the supplier and ensuring that all required information is passed across to Openreach.

The order process for a silver address is almost identical to placing an order for a gold address.

The differences in the process are as follows;

The date that you request for the order to be delivered is a provisional date based on the standard lead time for an order. This date will be subject to change, and the actual committed date will be advised once the supplier has accepted the order.

Only a premium or advanced appointment can be selected.

The image below shows the relevant section of the order page, and the options.

Once an order has been accepted, it will progress in the same way as any ordr placed within Metis.
