Moving broadband from another supplier to Packnet
What's happening and when?
The UK PSTN network is shutting down at the end of January 2027.
If your broadband or phone line runs over the PSTN network, you must migrate it to an IP-based service before the PSTN switch-off.
This includes the following services:
- ADSL
- FTTC
- G.fast
- WLR
These services will ultimately cease to operate unless migrated to an appropriate IP-based alternative, such as SoTAP, SoGEA, FTTP or Ethernet.
WLR3 Price Increase
Our third-party PSTN/WLR3 supplier, Openreach, has increased prices for certain wholesale products, and as a result, Packnet's costs have increased for these products.
In light of this third-party increase, please be aware that your prices will increase from 1st October 2026. You can view all pricing here.
Moving your existing Zen broadband services
If your ADSL, FTTC, or G.fast broadband service is supplied by Packnet via Zen Internet, then you can use the Metis portal to move to an IP-based product.
Applicable Zen products include:
- Zen ADSL2+
- Zen FTTC 40/10, Zen FTTC 55/10, Zen FTTC 80/20
- Zen Gfast 160/30, Zen Gfast 330/50
To move to an IP-based product, place a Modify order in the Metis portal.
Select Broadband from the main menu, then choose the Manage tab. Use the search to find your associated ADSL, FTTC, or GFast orders. From the actions drop-down, select 'Modify'.

Available upgrades are displayed on the next page.
Your connection details will not change, but you must check whether your router and network equipment support the new product and bandwidth speed.
FTTP, for example, is delivered over Ethernet/PPPoE, so the router must have an RJ45 WAN port. If you choose an FTTP speed greater than one gigabit, ensure that the router and switching equipment support those speeds.
Moving your existing Nasstar & KCOM broadband services
If your ADSL or FTTC broadband service is supplied by Packnet via Nasstar (formerly KCOM), then you can use the Metis portal to upgrade to an IP-based product.
Applicable Nasstar (KCOM) products include:
- KCOM ADSL
- KCOM FTTC
- FTTC
Start with an availability check, then place a new order.
If the product offered in the availability check is either SoTAP or SOGEA, select the 'Migration' option.
If the product offered in the availability check is FTTP, select the 'New Provide' option. Please note your install prices for FTTP orders before you proceed.
Keep your PSTN/WLR Caller ID by moving it to Packnet's VoIP Network
Integrated Number Portability is available if your PSTN/WLR service is supplied by Packnet.
If your PSTN/WLR service is supplied by a third-party, please contact us to enable the Integrated Number Porting feature.
During the broadband ordering process outlined above, you are given the option to use the Integrated Number Porting process to keep your PSTN/WLR Caller ID number and transfer it to Packnet's VoIP network.
Select Integrated Number Porting = "Yes" if you want to keep your PSTN/WLR Caller ID. The number will be available in your Metis account after the broadband order has been completed.
Select “No” if you do not need to keep your PSTN/WLR Caller ID.
For more information, please refer to our dedicated help apge: How to place an integrated SoGEA/FTTP migration and number port simultaneously
To keep any number associated with a WLR line that does not have a linked broadband service, please make a porting request as per this guide.
Moving broadband from another supplier to Packnet
You can migrate broadband from a third-party supplier to Packnet using the Metis portal.
Enter your broadband CLI number into the Availability Checker to see which products are available. If you don’t know your CLI number, enter your postcode and select your address.
If your available products are SOGEA, then continue to place a Migration order.
If your available products are FTTP, then continue to place a New Provide order. You will be given the option to cease the PSTN/WLR line on the following page.
Cease your Packnet WLR3 Lines
If your Packnet WLR3 service is no longer required and you do not need to move to an IP-based alternative, please contact the Packnet Support Desk, who will arrange a cease order.
